PART 2

Write down any questions or comments you have about the items below.
(Ex: 7. I don't really understand the goal)

7. WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THIS PROGRAM?
The goal of this program is to design a workshop and/or class to allow Oakland High students and UC Berkeley Undergraduates to do REAL research using mathematics, statistics, programing, and science.

8. HOW WILL YOU HELP?
You are the test subjects!
This is something brand new and exciting! We would like your impressions and feedback.
Please keep this work confidential. I will help you write something cool to put on your resumes.
There are some really cool research projects for ESA so I will also be bringing in Jordan and Noonan in on our meetings.

9. FOR CAL FRESHMEN IN THE GROUP
Email me back soon so that I can have you meet with the PDP people on campus so you can enroll in the PDP Calculus 1A section. They said they will make space for you because you are my students : )

10. OUR BLOG
I will be adding information throughout the summer so we can all keep in touch.
Here is the link.

  1. PART 1.

    1a. 4
    1b. 5
1c. I was not in ESA. I can recall concepts from most science classes.
1d. Gaining an idea about how data is obtained and analyzed - particularly how to analyze the data so that questions of interest can be further looked into.
1e. I am interested in everything but the specific topic, the carbon cycle, that is being used to learn about these tools.

    2a. 3
    2b. 4
    2c. Same as 1c.
2d. I am interested in the analysis that is taking place in the professor’s research – taking observations and looking at known models to make inferences.
2e. Not particularly interested in atmospheric science but have had little exposure to the topic.

    3. Link is broken

    4a. 5
    4b. 5
    4c. Same as 1c.
4d. Again, general interest in statistics; curious as to what theoretical statistics is about.
    4e. None

    5a. 5
    5b. 5
    5c. Same as 1c.
5d. I am interested in statistics.
    5e. Nothing

    6a. 5
    6b. 2
    6c. Same as 1c.
6d. Hard to say since I’m not sure what this is. Is this like LaTex for statistics? Is it for coding? Is it used to run statistical tests?
    6e. Same as 6d.

    PART 2.

    7. Interesting/cool – are we contributing to the field?
    8. What exactly will I be doing?
    9. Darn, wish there was a specific for being at a tiny little liberal arts college. ☺
    10. OK.
    11. The calendar is not working. Upon clicking the link, I received the message, “Sorry, the blog at iismestat.blogspot.com has been removed. This address is not available for new blogs.”
